Trelowarren

The Lizard Peninsula

‘Cornwall’s best kept secret’

Trelowarren sits at the centre of The Lizard, a Nature Reserve and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with unique geology and wildlife, easily accessed from Trelowarren.

We are on the most southerly point of mainland Britain, and our climate is warm, thanks in no small part to the sub-tropical Gulf Stream, which makes our Springs come early and our Summers stay late.

Spoilt for choice from top-quality beaches

The peninsula’s western edge, from Porthleven to Lizard Point is Heritage Coast and the spectacularly rugged Southwest Coastal Path can take you all the way from Porthleven to the Helford River passing both remote and popular beaches, Gunwalloe, Mullion, Pentreath and most notably, Kynance Cove.

Where the West coast has beaches for surfing and fishing, the more protected East side offers shelter from the prevailing winds; less opportunity to surf but more family orientated beaches like St Anthony, Kennack and Coverack and, of course, the Helford River.

Sailing and gardens on the Helford River

The river is famous for its creeks and reaches – perfect for the dinghies of the Sailing Club and exploring – and also for the great gardens that surround it: Trebah, Glendurgan and Bonython. And just on the other side of the river, Falmouth and the National Maritime Museum or the exceptional English Heritage castle at Pendennis Point.
